AIRISTO SEGELSÄLLSKAPIN JÄRJESTÄMÄ CLASSIC REGATTA PURJEHDITTIIN 27-30. HEINÄKUUTA TURUSSA

THE TRADITIONAL AIRISTO CLASSIC REGATTA WAS ORGANIZED BY AIRISTO SEGELSÄLLSKAP ON 27th-30th JULY IN THE CITY TURKU

Kuvasin kilpailua vain ensimmäisenä päivänä, jolloin aurinko paistoi ajoittain, mutta tuuli heikosti. Veneitä oli tavanomainen määrä - viitosia jopa kymmenkunta. Muutamat ennakkoon ilmoittautuneet matkaveneet eivät kuitenkaan tulleet Airistolle.

Ruotsista saapui viisi venettä, Ahvenanmaalta yksi ja Viron lippua käytti yksi vene.

The number of yachts was normal, but Int5m boats showed activity - 12 yachts was a very good fleet. From Sweden arrived 5 yachts, from Åland islands one and one boat sailed under Estonian flag.

Ruotsalaiset veneet olivat - The five Swedish yachts were as follows

Pani SWE-163, scerrycruiser 30 m2, constructed in 1937, designer Erik Nilsson.

Josephine SWE-975, designed by Einar Ohlson, built in Orust Swedish west coast in 1966.

Winnie SWE-120, built in Motala in 1947, designer was Knud H. Reimers. Winnie sails now under command of Isabell and Carl Jorns having been owned by boatbuilder and writer Thomas Larsson since 1990 untill 2019.

Marga IV SWE-9, scerrycruiser 95 m2, designed and constructed by Holm-family at Gamleby, Sweden. The yacht has been owned by Widstrand - family since 1987, and after two decades repairing she was launched into water in 2016. Marga IV has visited several times the Airisto regatta in Turku.

Ingunn III SWE-59 is an Int5m, designed by Tord Sundén and built in 1942.

The yacht sailing under the Åland´s flag is an Utö-cruiser FIN-1. These yachts were designed by Jarl Lindblom and constructed by Åbo Båtvarv (Turun Veneveistämö). Number one, named as Kardemumma, is the first one in the series built by Åbo Båtvarv, launched in 1949.  She was owned since 2004 by Eero Tamminen and Marikki Hakola, and had the home port at the Wilenius boatyard in the city Borgå (Porvoo).  The new ownar this year is Lasse Pipping, who now lives on the Åland islands, and that´s why the yacht is carrying Åland´s flag. Lasse has also another classic yacht, Gullkrona-cruiser Skua. This yacht type was also designed by Jarl Lindblom, and as far as is known, only three boats has been built.

One of the boats, Albertina, is registered in Estonia. The boat is owned by the Ruissalo boatyard, but located into Estonia. This boat type was designed by Harry Relander in the 1930´s. Albertina was built by Åbo BÅtvarv in 1939, and has been totally renovated.

Julia L-12 has not attended the regatta previously, and was interesting to meet. She was designed by Birger Slotte, who is known for his various cruising yachts, but also for R-yachts. Julia was built by brothers Olli and Esko Ajanko in Nystad (Uudessakaupungissa) in 1960 for themselves. Julia is still owned by the same family.

Tosca FIN-14 is a 40 m2 scerrycruiser by Gustaf Estlander.  Tosca was built at Abeking&Rasmussen boatyard in Bremen in 1920.

PAM FIN-11035 is a S&S  40 feet yacht built in Denmark in 1966.
